Launch of the "Sites of Memory in Latin America" portal

The Latin American institutions comprising the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience announce the launch of the "Sites of Memory in Latin America" portal, a new space for dialogue and diffusion of our continental history.

This portal (http://www.memoriaabierta.org.ar/redlatinoamericana/) presents information on the work of the 27 institutions that compose the Latin American Network of Sites of Conscience. It includes a catalogue of materials, samples and publications produced by members of the network and a collective calendar that disseminates information on activities associated with the work on memory developed in the region. This agenda may be included in any web page or blog, thus contributing to increase the visibility of our work on a regional level.

We believe this portal is an interesting means to:

• make known the past and present consequences of the crimes against humanity committed against our communities by different governmental administrations,
  
• provide a privileged platform from which it will be possible to disseminate the innumerable proposals and efforts undertaken by human rights organizations, survivors and families of the victims of State terrorism in pursuit of the ideals of memory, truth and justice.
