Human Rights Archives Census

Human Rights Archives Census assembles information on the archives in this region holding documents relating to human rights violations that took place during military dictatorships. This initiative, supported by the UNESCO office of Montevideo, intends to facilitate knowledge and access to these documentary sources.
This census-guide gathers data from the archives of social organizations and documentation centres, personal archives, archives produced by repressive apparatuses of dictatorial governments as well as those archives developed by democratic governments via “truth commissions”, etc., with the goal of facilitating information on the content, possibilities of consultation, deadlines, the condition of the documents, common projects, and infrastructure of each archive. We invite you to participate and improve this tool. Keeping alive the knowledge of our region through documentary sources is fundamental so that NEVER AGAIN will terror and the attempts to erase its tracks are made possible.
