In the frame of the actions destined to bind the work
of human rights agencies in the region, between the
8 and 10 of June of 2006, was carried out the Workshop
named "Public use of historic places for the transmission
of the memory". It was developed on the Sociedad
Hebraica Argentina and included the participation of
representatives from the following organizations: Movimiento
Ciudadano Para que No Se Repita (Lima-Perú);
Corporación por la Paz Villa Grimaldi (Santiago
de Chile); Museo de la Memoria (Rosario); Casa de la
Memoria (Mendoza); Secretaría de Estado de Derechos
Humanos (San Miguel de Tucumán); Asociación
Civil Hijos de una Misma Historia (Mar del Plata); Dirección
de Derechos Humanos del Municipio de Morón y
Proyecto de Investigación Antropológica
y Arqueológica Mansión Seré (Partido
de Morón); Comisión de familiares, sobrevivientes
y compañeros de las víctimas de los CCD
El Vesubio y Proto-Banco. (Partido de La Matanza); Comisión
de Trabajo y Consenso. Proyecto de Recuperación
de la Memoria del CCD “El Olimpo” (Ciudad
de Buenos Aires); And members of Memoria Abierta.
The first day included the presence of the Professor
Hector Schmucler who discoursed on "The disturbing
relation between places and memories".
In the subsequent days, the discussions rotated around
the strategies utilized to achieve the purpose of
the sites to become adequate vehicles for the transmission
of the memories on the recent past. Also the public
politics -existing or desirables- were analysed to
incorporate them as fundamental pieces on the memory
and repair actions that the States adopt.
The places that participated on the workshop exposed
the specificities and the problems of their daily
work and promoted a debate around the common challenges
in order to facilitating that our societies assume
their history and their commitment of transmitting
it to the new generations.
